Annette Bening is the latest A-lister to join the Taylor Sheridan-verse, with the Oscar-nominated actress set to star in the upcoming “Yellowstone” spinoff about Beth and Rip.
Bening will appear alongside previously announced cast members Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly, with Finn Little also set to reprise his role as Carter on the series. In addition, Chad Feehan has joined the series as showrunner and executive producer. Feehan previously collaborated with Sheridan on the Paramount+ series “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” with Feehan also serving as showrunner on that series.
Bening wil star as Beulah Jackson, who is described as “the powerful, cunning, and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.”
Bening is one of the most celebrated film actresses of her time, and has received five Academy Award nominations throughout her career. Those were for: “The Grifters,” “American Beauty,” “Being Julia,” “The Kids Are Alright,” and “Nyad.” She won a Golden Globe for both “Being Julia” and “The Kids Are Alright,” while she was nominated for “Nyad” and “American Beauty.” She also got Golden Globe nods for the films “Bugsy,” “The American President,” “Mrs. Harris,” “Running with Scissors,” “20th Century Women,” and “The Report.”
In television, Bening was recently cast in the Anya Taylor-Joy-led series “Lucky” at Apple TV+, while she also starred in the Peacock limited series “Apples Never Fall.”
She is repped by CAA and Gochman Law Group.
The Beth & Rip spinoff series has been in the works for some time, with the last major update coming around the time of the “Yellowstone” series finale in December 2024. At the conclusion of “Yellowstone,” Beth and Rip leave the Dutton ranch — which has been sold to the Standing Rock Reservation — in favor of a smaller ranch in Dillon, Montana. The spinoff is believed to pick up with the couple in the aftermath of the finale.
The “Yellowstone”-verse has continued to expand. Along with the mothership show, Paramount has already aired the prequels “1883” and “1923,” with “1944” up next. Then, in addition to the Beth & Rip spinoff, Luke Grimes will reprise the role of Kayce Dutton in the drama “Y: Marshals” at CBS, while Michelle Pfeiffer will lead the spinoff series “The Madison.”
Deadline first reported Bening’s casting.
