The August 23rd edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown emanated from Dublin, Ireland. The final segment of the show saw SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis catch up with John Cena outside the arena.
Aldis informed Cena that he heard from Brock Lesnar, but before Aldis could share the rest of the news, Logan Paul sucker punched Cena. In the live version that aired on Netflix, Paul came from out of frame and punched Cena. In the USA Network broadcast, Paul could be seen coming up behind Aldis and then punching Cena.

Paul and Cena are set to go one-on-one at Clash in Paris on August 31st. As for Lesnar and Cena, Lesnar returned at WWE SummerSlam and put Cena down with an F5.
WWE has its Wrestlepalooza PLE coming up on September 20th, and it is advertised that Cena will headline the show against a rival he has not wrestled in more than a decade. Cena and Brock last shared the ring for a singles match in 2014.
