The future of The Street Profits is now in question following their failure to capture the WWE World Tag Team Championship from The Wyatt Sicks at the Clash in Paris Premium Live Event. Comments made by WWE Superstar Big E on the pre-show panel, coupled with subtle moments of friction during the match and a post-show discussion, have fueled speculation that the long-tenured tag team could be heading for a split.
Before the event began, Big E, a close friend of the team, voiced his concerns about their current standing. “They’re at an impasse here. They really, really need this,” Big E said during the pre-show. “I love those guys. Gacy and Lumis then capitalized, hitting their double-team finishing move, The Plague, on Ford for the pinfall victory.
On the official post-show, the troubles within The Street Profits were a main topic of conversation between hosts Jackie Redmond, Peter Rosenberg, and Big E. Voicing the fears of many fans, Big E stated that he hopes the duo can figure things out and not split up.
The loss marks another high-profile championship defeat for one of WWE’s most accomplished modern tag teams. Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford first formed their partnership in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT, where they went on to capture the NXT Tag Team Championship.
