The group of six who accidentally floated to Dillon Falls on the Deschutes River near Bend were in inner tubes tied together and included a Texas woman who had just celebrated her 40th birthday and a 33-year-old woman from Florida, authorities said Tuesday.
Three of the six were able to jump from the inner tubes and make it safely to shore on Saturday while the other three tumbled over the falls’ 15-foot drop.
Authorities have recovered the bodies of two of those people — 40-year-old Amanda Lloyd of Rockwall, Texas and 33-year-old Lindsay Bashan of Parkland, Florida — and they are continuing to search for the third person, who hasn’t been identified publicly.
The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office also has declined to identify the three survivors.
The Portland Police Bureau’s fixed-wing plane with special cameras has joined the search, the sheriff’s office said. A K-9 team also continues to help.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are asking the public to stay away from the Dillon Falls area southwest of Bend so as to not interfere in the search.
