A woman seen on a home surveillance video being taken by force by a man in Wichita, Kansas, has been located safely, police said Tuesday.
Investigators said they received a call around 3 p.m. from a woman claiming to be the individual they had been trying to identify. Detectives responded to her location, confirmed her identity and brought her to City Hall for an interview, according to a news release from the Wichita Police Department.
Police identified her as a 35-year-old woman who lives in the neighborhood where a homeowner’s Ring doorbell camera recorded the video. She did not have any significant injuries, police said.
“We want to thank the public for sharing the video and still images that generated additional attention about this incident,” police said in the release. “We do believe it led the female to call us saying she was the person we were looking for.”
Police said there is no indication of ongoing danger to the general public. The investigation is continuing, and the case will be presented to the appropriate attorney’s office for charging consideration.
During a press conference Tuesday morning, Wichita police asked for the public’s help identifying the individuals, offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the identification of either person in the video.
