The woman shot dead in Jackson on Saturday was the sister of Minnesota Timberwolves basketball star Naz Reid, multiple news outlets reported.
Authorities have said they found Toraya Reid, 28, of Jackson shot dead Saturday, and have arrested and charged Shaquille Gree, 29, also of Jackson, with her murder.
Police responding to an 11 a.m. phone call found Reid outside at the Paragon Apartment Complex on Larsen Road, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Green was seen running near New Prospect Road nearby, where officers took him into custody. He is charged with murder and firearm possession charges.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said that Toraya Reid and Green were previously “in a dating relationship.”
Reid, from Asbury Park, starred at Roselle Catholic High School and played a year at LSU before joining the Timberwolves in 2019. His high school alma mater retired his jersey earlier this year.
