It’s been a rough half for the Wisconsin Badgers, who have been plagued by penalties, turnovers, and missed opportunities. That’s exactly what can’t happen against a team like the No. 19 Alabama Crimson Tide, which is a big reason why the score at halftime is 21-0.
Wisconsin started off the game with an offensive pass interference penalty on a third-down conversion, killing their opening drive.
Then, after the defense got a fourth-down stop in Alabama territory, the Badgers squandered a big opportunity when Danny O’Neil threw an interception to Bray Hubbard while targeting Vinny Anthony, completely missing the safety in the flat in zone coverage as he stared down his receiver.
Alabama capitalized with a touchdown drive, going for it on 4th & Goal at the 2-yard line to take an early lead. From there, it was all Crimson Tide.
Wisconsin had some movement on its following drive, but back-to-back sacks forced a Badgers punt, which Alabama responded to with a quick four-play, 65-yard touchdown drive.
The Badgers had hope once again after that, getting to midfield, but a 15-yard personal foul on Joe Brunner derailed another drive, and Alabama marched 98 yards down the field to score another touchdown before the half ended.
We’ll see if Wisconsin can show any life in the second half, but they’re down 21-0, and the Crimson Tide get the ball to start the second half. Join us as our second-half game thread is now officially open!
