William Reportedly Blocking Charles’ Reconciliation With ‘Terrible’ Harry Amid Fears His Brother Will Take ‘Advantage’ of Their Father

The relationship between King Charles and Prince Harry is on the brink of being repaired. After senior aides for the two met recently, there are now reports that father and son are ready to put their feud to rest and meet up in person for the first time since early 2024. However, all reports seem to indicate that there’s one person who isn’t really in for this: Prince William.

According to recent reports by The Daily Beast, the thing that’s keeping the King from finally reconciling with Harry is his other son, who reportedly believes his brother should not be welcomed back to the royal fold. Add to that the fact that the relationship between father and son is already somewhat strained by their different ways of seeing the monarchy, and this could present an obstacle to reconciliation for King Charles and Prince Harry that’s hard to get over.

The outlet reported from a source close to William that the heir also believes his position has been greatly strengthened by the issues surrounding Prince Andrew lately. “William always said, ‘Just cut Andrew off completely. It’s not appropriate to have an alleged sex offender breaking bread with the royal family.’ Charles was so desperate to be seen as embodying the spirit of Christian forgiveness that he let Andrew back in.”

“William was right about Andrew, and he is right about Harry,” the source also told the outlet. “Charles is weak. William is anything but weak.”

However, this friend of William’s made it clear that William will ultimately defer to his father’s opinion. “Ultimately, William is a loyal soldier. He respects his father’s rank, and he respects his father’s right to make his own decisions, and he won’t make a fuss if it happens,” they said. “But he thinks a Harry meeting is a terrible, terrible idea.”

All of this leads this friend to believe the meeting will not happen. “Now, is history going to repeat itself with a photo of Harry and the king having tea?” they said. “It’s absurd to even imagine that after what Harry said—unless there is some form of direct apology from Harry.”

However, things have continued to move forward since aides for King Charles and Prince Harry first met. “There are trust issues there, but the king misses his son [Harry],” King Charles’ former personal butler, Grant Harrold, told The Post. “William is worried that with the stuff Harry has said, he could use it to his advantage again … like he’s already done. I think, sadly, they don’t trust him. It’s a shame, because Harry wants them to.”

Harry will be flying to the U.K. by himself, with his wife Meghan Markle and their two kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibeth reportedly remaining in the United States. Harry has previously spoken about how security concerns are keeping his family from returning to his home country.

Whether Prince Harry and King Charles end up meeting, it seems like the relationship between Prince William and his brother, and even his father is going to need some work.
