“Saturday Night Live’s” season premiere Cold Open is getting some reaction from the White House after the sketch comedy show brought out Colin Jost as Pete Hegseth and James Austin Johnson as President Donald Trump.
The show, which aired on Saturday, October 4, and was hosted by Bad Bunny with musical guest, Doja Cat, kicked off with Jost poking fun at Hegseth’s meeting in front of hundreds of top U.S. military officials.
Johnson then came in as President Trump to weigh in on the state of “SNL.”
White House spokeswoman, Abigail Jackson, reacted to the show’s Cold Open in an email reply to Entertainment Weekly, saying:
“Reacting to this would require me to waste my time watching it. And like the millions of Americans who have tuned out from ‘SNL,’ I have more entertaining things to do — like watch paint dry.”
This is the 51st season of “Saturday Night Live,” which features a number of new cast members and returning favorites.
Kenan Thompson, Bowen Yang, Chloe Fineman, Mikey Day, and James Austin Johnson are among those returning, as are featured players Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline, both debuting last year.
Michael Che and Colin Jost are back as “Weekend Update” anchors, extending their status as the longest-running “Weekend Update” duo.
