In February, Michelle Williams welcomed her fourth child — who is her third with her husband, director Thomas Kail — via surrogate. The 44-year-old actress previously kept the details of the pregnancy and birth quiet, including the baby’s name and sex. But during a Monday-night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, after guest host Tiffany Haddish noted that Williams didn’t look like she’d given birth to multiple kids, she confirmed that their surrogate, whom she referred to as Christine, had delivered a baby girl.

“I’ve got to give a big shout-out to Christine, ’cause this last baby did not come through my body,” Williams said. “The miracle of our little girl is thanks to Christine. Maybe you’re watching out there; thank you, Christine.”

“Thanks to Christine, I have three under 5 at home,” Williams added.

The actress welcomed her first daughter, Matilda Rose Ledger, who is now 19, with Heath Ledger in 2005. After marrying Kail in 2020, they had their first child together, a son, Hart, that summer. The couple’s third child was born in 2022, though they’ve kept details there under wraps as well. Williams is an A-list celebrity who keeps her private life extremely private — she even married Kail in a secret ceremony — so it’s a rare and sweet exception that she wanted to say thank-you to Christine.
