Michigan’s football team bounced back from last week’s lost to USC with one of its most complete games of the season.
The Wolverines defeated Washington 24-7 Saturday to improve to 5-2, keeping their playoff hopes alive. They totaled 417 yards of offense while keeping one of the conference’s best offenses at bay.
Washington (5-2, 2-2), fresh off a 579-yard performance in last week’s 38-19 victory over Rutgers, was bottled up by Michigan’s defense, managing just 249 yards. Standout dual-threat quarterback Demond Williams Jr. passed for 209 yards and three interceptions while finishing with negative net rushing yards.

SOCIAL MEDIA REACTIONS
Former Michigan tight end and current Big Ten analyst Jake Butt posted: “When you coach or play at Michigan- you will have to deal with very high standards. It’s a positive, but it’s a challenge. This team and staff were challenged after the USC road loss. Sherrone said they addressed the issues, they were gonna get to work, and that we’d see a different team against Washington. He was proven right. Loved Jordan Marshall’s post game interview. Throwing praise to the OL. Great team response and great win for Michigan.”
Detroit Free Press’ Tony Garcia posted: “That was U-M’s best performance of the year by a wide margin. The D sparked the O with a pair of picks in the third, Underwood was sharp and confident and despite being down a host of key players, U-M pulled away. Up next: Michigan State.”
Maize & Blue Review publisher Josh Henschke posted: “Michigan put its big boy pants on today. The kids are growing up, and you have to ride the wave.”
Barstool Sports founder and Michigan alum Dave Portnoy posted: “Shoutout to Sherrone Moore today and Michigan. It’s tough being the head man at the premiere program in the country. You lose a game or 2 with a Freshman Qb and everybody starts grumbling. Heavy is the head that wears the crown. But he got them focused, went back to work, and demolished a very good Washington team. Everything is still in front of us this year.”
David Cone posted: “Top Takeaways from Michigan/Washington: – Impressive bounce-back victory against a good Washington team (played more disciplined and inspired) – What a performance by the Def. to hold Demond Williams and this Off. to 7 pts – Rush discipline improved after Q1 – Jordan Marshall is a great back- Andrew Marsh is an emerging star- RPO really developing for Bryce (still needs more touch at times) – Bredeson & Hausmann are worthy captains.
