What to Expect From the Rival Prime Day Sale

Walmart has officially announced its own sale to rival Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days in October. The event will take place on October 7 and run through October 12, four days longer than Amazon’s own sale. According to the press release, these Walmart deals will be available to everyone during this time, with early access offered to Walmart+ members starting on October 6.

The Amazon sale is set to take place on October 7 through October 8, but as a Prime-exclusive event. So for those without an Amazon Prime membership, this Walmart sale will likely be the best chance to get access to savings during that same window. Walmart offered this competing sale last year as well with many discounts price-matched to Amazon.

What to Expect From the Walmart October Sale

Walmart has not offered up too many details about what deals we can expect from its sale this year, but there was a preview featured in the press release that’s worth checking out. Among those deals announced were a discount on a Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Elite Trainer Box and a LEGO Harry Potter set. We expect both of those to be pretty popular this year, so they are worth highlighting ahead of the sale if you plan on doing a bit of shopping this October.

Walmart Deals preview

It’s worth noting that while the Walmart Deals sale is available to everyone starting on October 7, some of its best deals will probably go out of stock during the early access window. We’ve found this to be especially true for popular items like the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Prismatics Evolutions Elite trainer box, which was only just released earlier in 2025. Walmart will often have limited stock in its more popular LEGO sets as well, so having early access with a Walmart+ membership can be helpful for ensuring you can actually get an order in at the discount Walmart has stated above.

Early access doesn’t just help with popular toy deals, though. The Asus TUF gaming laptop deal featured in the preview is a Walmart-exclusive and is currently out of stock at its online storefront. This means that it will likely go in stock for a limited time during early access and sell out quickly when the sale officially opens up to non-Walmart+ members.

Is It Worth Waiting for Black Friday Deals?

The timing of this Walmart Deals sale may have you wondering if its better to buy now or wait. While it’s true that upcoming sales events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday will likely have better deals overall, this October event is probably going to have some exclusive discounts you won’t find later on. These will be items that Walmart is trying to unload from its shelves before November or popular products it is using to lure customers away from Amazon’s own sale. So with that in mind, you should certainly wait for Black Friday season to do most of your shopping, but it’s definitely worth checking out this sale while it’s around.

The unique timing of an October sale also makes it the ideal time to find discounts on Halloween stuff you likely won’t find again until after Halloween. Walmart has only included one piece of Halloween decor in its preview, but it’s likely we will see more once the event actually kicks off.
