Tier 1 | Elite Quarterbacks for Week 9

Elites
With Lamar Jackson expected to finally return on Thursday Night Football, he’ll soon rejoin this elite fantasy tier. Josh Allen didn’t even need to play a full game in the Bills’ blowout over Carolina, and Patrick Mahomes erupted in the second half of Monday Night Football, each tossing three scores and delivering another top-end fantasy week. Week 9 sets up another legendary duel between two generational quarterbacks who remain matchup-proof every single week.
Tier 2 | Week 9 Must Start Quarterbacks

Drake Maye | New England Patriots
Averaging 22+ fantasy points per game, Drake Maye is proving he’s already an NFL and fantasy star in the making. He’s on pace for over 4,300 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and just six interceptions, while also adding 530 rushing yards and four rushing scores. And he’s doing it with limited weapons. his top targets rank as WR38, WR39, TE14, and RB37. The Atlanta defense cracked last week against Miami, and Maye has the talent to blow the doors off again in Week 9.
Daniel Jones | Indianapolis Colts
The biggest surprise of the fantasy season remains Daniel Jones and the 6–1 Indianapolis Colts. Averaging nearly 21 PPG with six QB1 finishes, Jones is no longer a streaming option, he’s an every-week starter. Pittsburgh’s defense is allowing the most passing yards per game and over 25 PPG, setting up another juicy opportunity for Jones to keep the Colts rolling.
Tier 3 | Mid Tier QB1 Options for Week 9

Jayden Daniels | Washington Commanders
Having already missed three games, Jayden Daniels has only one QB1 finish this year and sits at QB9 overall, averaging just under 20 PPG. The rushing upside is still there, but his 61% completion rate (down from 69% last season) shows some lingering rust. Returning from injury against Seattle’s #7 scoring defense will be a tough test for the second-year phenom.
Caleb Williams | Cincinnati Bengals
Through three weeks, Caleb Williams ranked QB3 overall, trailing only Jackson and Allen. Since then, he’s fallen off a cliff, QB30 over the last month, with more interceptions than touchdowns and declining rushing production. Fortunately, the Bears face a Cincy defense ranked 30th against the pass and 32nd in scoring allowed, making this a potential “get-right” week for Williams and the Chicago offense.
Bo Nix | Denver Broncos
After a sluggish six weeks sitting at QB21, Bo Nix has exploded the past two games with 573 total yards and eight touchdowns, vaulting up to QB7. The true test now comes against Houston’s #1-ranked defense, but with the Broncos’ offense clicking and Nix finally using his legs, he’s more than capable of another strong performance.
Tiers 4 – 6 Week 9 Quarterback Rankings
Tier 4 | Fringe Quarterback Starters / Strong QB2 Plays for Week 9

Jaxson Dart | New York Giants
Losing Cam Skattebo hurts the Giants’ offensive balance, but Jaxson Dart continues to deliver elite dual-threat numbers, QB6 since Week 4, with an NFL-best 195 rushing yards and four scores over that span. San Francisco’s #8 scoring defense won’t be easy, yet Dart’s rushing floor and command of this offense keep him in QB1 territory.
Joe Flacco | Cincinnati Bengals
Since taking over, Joe Flacco has completely revived the Bengals offense. Over the past two weeks, he’s thrown for 565 yards, five passing TDs, and added a QB sneak. With Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins both thriving again, Flacco gets a soft matchup versus Chicago’s 25th-ranked overall defense, which just gave up 33 points to Baltimore. With limited practice this week, the whole offense hopes he suits up.
Kyler Murray | Dallas Cowboys
Through his first few games, Kyler Murray sits at QB23, but his rushing production (4th among QBs) keeps him viable. He’s yet to post a QB1 finish this season, but facing the #31 scoring defense in Dallas could finally give him the breakout game managers have been waiting for.
Tier 5 | Superflex and Matchup-Based Quarterbacks for Week 9

C.J. Stroud | Houston Texans
Quietly, C.J. Stroud has been QB10 since Week 4, ranking top 10 in both passing yards and passing touchdowns during that stretch. The matchup against Denver’s #2 defense will lower his ceiling, but his poise and consistent passing volume keep him a safe start in most formats.
Trevor Lawrence | Jacksonville Jaguars
Expectations were sky-high for Trevor Lawrence entering the Liam Coen system, but he’s underwhelmed at QB20. Coming off the bye, he’ll try to get back on track against a Raiders defense ranked 23rd in scoring and allowing over 26 points per game, a golden opportunity to reset his season.
Tier 6 | Emergency Week 9 Streaming Quarterbacks

J.J. McCarthy | Minnesota Vikings
After struggling before his ankle injury, J.J. McCarthy now faces a rough return against Detroit’s #8 defense. The rookie will need to shake off rust quickly, as the Lions’ front seven has feasted on inexperienced QBs all year.
Michael Penix Jr. | Atlanta Falcons
The QB32 in PPG has struggled to find rhythm since Week 1’s QB10 showing, averaging under 12 points since. New England’s disciplined unit allows just 18 PPG, leaving Michael Penix Jr. as a desperation superflex play at best.
Tyler Shough | New Orleans Saints
Making his first professional start against the Rams’ #3 scoring defense is a nightmare scenario for Tyler Shough. The rookie will face heavy pressure from the Rams D-Line, making this a “watch and see” week rather than a startable one.

Tier 1 | Elite Week 9 Workhorse Running Backs

Elites
These backs all average over 21 PPG, dominate 75%+ of snaps, and are featured in both the run and pass game. They remain true bellcows and weekly difference-makers with elite usage and touchdown upside.
Tier 2 | Must Start RB1 Options for Week 9

James Cook | Buffalo Bills
After the first four weeks, James Cook ranked RB2 overall. He stumbled before the bye, averaging under 7 PPG against tough defenses, but his 33-point eruption versus Carolina reminded us of his sky-high ceiling. Kansas City’s #11 run defense presents a challenge, as Cook’s worst outings have come versus stronger fronts.
Ashton Jeanty | Las Vegas Raiders
Coming off his worst game of the season, Ashton Jeanty faces a Jacksonville defense that’s inconsistent but strong against the run (#6). His Week 4 RB1 overall explosion accounted for 31% of his total yards and 60% of his TDs this year, but he’s been quiet otherwise, with three sub–10-point games.
Tier 3 | Solid RB1 Starters for Week 9

Kimani Vidal | Los Angeles Chargers
With two RB1 finishes in the last three weeks, Kimani Vidal has handled nearly 70% of snaps and 60% of carries while showcasing dual-threat ability. The 26th-ranked Titans run defense provides another favorable matchup, allowing the Chargers to stay balanced and keep rookie Omarion Hampton on the mend until he is fully recovered.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. | New York Giants
From Week 5 onward last year, Tyrone Tracy Jr. ranked RB17, averaging 13+ PPG with 32 receptions. He now steps back into the lead role following Cam Skattebo’s season-ending injury. He won’t replicate Skattebo’s RB1-level production, but his receiving usage and reliable volume make him a strong RB2 option.
Rico Dowdle | Carolina Panthers
The Panthers’ backfield has been nearly even in touches since Chuba Hubbard’s return, but Rico Dowdle has doubled Hubbard’s production and looks poised to seize the lead role. Green Bay’s #3 run defense is no cakewalk, but Dowdle’s decisiveness and burst make him a solid flex option.
Tiers 4 – 7 Week 9 Running Back Start/Sit Rankings
Tier 4 | Reliable RB2 Starters for Week 9

Kyle Monangai | Chicago Bears
After a spike week two games ago, Kyle Monangai gets a prime setup versus Cincinnati’s 32nd-ranked run defense. With Chicago’s aerial attack struggling, expect another heavy workload and RB2 upside.
Woody Marks | Denver Broncos
Excluding the Baltimore blowout (where Dameon Pierce handled the 4th quarter), Woody Marks remains the leader in this backfield with 53% of snaps, 43% of carries, and 12% of targets, while averaging 18.5 PPG. Denver’s #10 run defense will be a test, but his receiving work gives him a steady floor even in negative game scripts.
Kenneth Walker | Washington Commanders
Despite averaging 1.5 more yards per carry than Zach Charbonnet, Kenneth Walker only sees 42% of snaps and equal touches. His low red-zone usage (20% of inside-5 carries) limits his ceiling, and with only 9 total targets, his fantasy value is volume-capped. Washington’s run defense isn’t tough, but Walker has fallen below double digits in 4 of 7 games.
Tier 5 | Back End RB2 / Flex-Level Running Back Options for Week 9

Bam Knight | Arizona Cardinals
With Trey Benson still on IR, Bam Knight continues to lead the backfield but averages just over 9 PPG. Fortunately, a matchup against the Cowboys’ #29 run defense gives him sneaky RB2 upside this week.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt | Washington Commanders
Outside of his Week 5 breakout (RB4 overall), Jacory Croskey-Merritt has averaged only 6.7 PPG, ranking RB49 over that span. Seattle’s #1 rush defense makes another ceiling game highly unlikely.
Alvin Kamara | New Orleans Saints
It appears the end may be near for Alvin Kamara as a fantasy RB1. Averaging 10 PPG with no top-12 finishes, Kamara’s touches are declining, even with Kendre Miller out, Devin Neal split nearly half the snaps. With rookie Tyler Shough under center, the offense could sputter, keeping Kamara’s floor uncomfortably low.
TreVeyon Henderson | New England Patriots
Coming off his best game of the season, TreVeyon Henderson saw double-digit carries for only the second time. With Rhamondre Stevenson on the injury report, Henderson could see an expanded role, unless New England continues to explore backfield depth.
Aaron Jones | Minnesota Vikings
Minnesota continues to rotate backs evenly, with Jordan Mason taking more carries and Aaron Jones leading in targets. Mason is more touchdown-dependent, while Jones offers steadier PPR value (10 PPG). Facing Detroit’s #4 run defense limits both their ceilings, keeping this backfield risky in Week 9.
Tyjae Spears | Tennessee Titans
In his fourth game since returning from injury, Tyjae Spears flashed with an RB12 finish, looking far more explosive than Tony Pollard despite fewer touches. The workload split remains tight, but Tennessee’s league-worst scoring offense severely caps both backs’ fantasy ceilings.
Tier 6 | High Risk Flex Running Backs for Week 9

Samaje Perine | Cincinnati Bengals
Chase Brown remains the starter, but Samaje Perine flashed strong upside under Joe Flacco’s revamped offense, posting an RB14 finish last week. The Bears’ 25th-ranked run defense offers another chance for Perine to deliver flex-level production.
Eugene Wilson | Green Bay Packers
With Josh Jacobs still limited, Eugene Wilson’s snap share has climbed (32% → 41%) the last two weeks. That led to 14 touches for 87 yards and an RB21 finish. It’s unclear if this is a trend or injury-driven, but Wilson is a worthwhile stash in deeper leagues.
Kenneth Gainwell | Pittsburgh Steelers
Locked in as the clear backup to Jaylen Warren, Kenneth Gainwell has seen under 10 touches in consecutive games. His Week 4 RB3 overall explosion feels like a distant memory, and without receiving volume, he’s off the fantasy radar for now.

Tier 1 | Elite Wide Receivers for Week 9

Elites
The no-brainer plays who provide massive weekly floors with legitimate WR1-overall upside every time they take the field.
Tier 2 | High-End WR1 Options for Week 9

CeeDee Lamb | Dallas Cowboys
With the emergence of George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb’s ceiling is slightly lower than managers might prefer. He’s the WR14 since returning, still a solid play but just below the elite top four who all carry 30%+ target shares; Lamb sits closer to 25%.
Drake London | Atlanta Falcons
Over his last three games, Drake London has earned 36 targets and even delivered a WR1-overall finish in Week 6. He’s the clear alpha when healthy. New England’s #4 scoring defense poses a challenge, but the #19 pass defense should still allow enough volume for a strong floor.
Ladd McConkey / Keenan Allen / Quentin Johnston | Los Angeles Chargers
After a quiet start, Ladd McConkey has caught fire as the WR6 over the past four weeks, averaging 18.6 PPG. Keenan Allen exploded for a WR3 finish in Week 7 but has averaged only 8.6 PPG otherwise, while Quentin Johnston has fallen from 20 PPG to barely 6 as Oronde Gadsden II and McConkey gain prominence.

Tier 3 | Fringe WR1 / Strong WR2 Plays for Week 9

Nico Collins | Houston Texans
With just one WR1 finish all year, Nico Collins hasn’t met manager’s expectations. Denver is normally a tough matchup when Patrick Surtain II plays, but his absence opens a lane for Collins to regain heavy-target form.
Rome Odunze | Chicago Bears
After rebounding against Baltimore, Rome Odunze now draws Cincinnati’s #30 pass defense. Despite back-to-back duds in Weeks 6–7, he sits WR12 in PPG and remains a confident start in what projects as a shootout.
Brian Thomas Jr. / Travis Hunter | Jacksonville Jaguars
Both Jaguars wideouts have underwhelmed overall. Brian Thomas Jr. flashed with a WR6 finish in Week 6 before crashing back down, while Travis Hunter went into the bye on a season-best line: 14 targets, 8 receptions, 101 yards, and a TD. Facing the Raiders’ exploitable secondary, both have significant upside.
Marvin Harrison Jr. | Arizona Cardinals
Though the most heavily targeted Cardinal WR, Marvin Harrison Jr. sits only WR43 at 10.8 PPG, and behind Trey McBride as the lead target of their passing game. Dallas’s #31 defense provides a golden chance for his first true breakout.
Tiers 4 – 7 Week 9 Wide Receiver Rankings Tiers
Tier 4 | Reliable WR2 Starters for Week 9

Chris Olave | New Orleans Saints
Steady as ever, Chris Olave has only one game below double digits. The Rams’ #4 scoring defense caps his ceiling, but double-digit targets keep his floor rock-solid.
Jordan Addison | Minnesota Vikings
Since his return, Jordan Addison has been WR12 in PPG (16 per game) with Carson Wentz under center. Now J.J. McCarthy returns, and with Justin Jefferson leading the team, expectations should be tempered versus Detroit’s #8 defense.
Deebo Samuel | Washington Commanders
With Terry McLaurin sidelined again, Deebo Samuel steps in as Jayden Daniels’ top option. He’s averaged 16 PPG without McLaurin compared to 12.3 PPG with him active. Seattle’s defense can be exploited through the air, giving Samuel a strong outlook.
Tier 5 | Risk-Reward Flex Wide Receivers for Week 9

Khalil Shakir / Keon Coleman | Buffalo Bills
Their target shares are nearly identical, but Khalil Shakir is far steadier than Keon Coleman. Shakir just posted his best week (WR7), while Coleman has averaged only 6.6 PPG since his explosive opener.
Jauan Jennings / Kendrick Bourne | San Francisco 49ers
With Ricky Pearsall still sidelined, Kendrick Bourne and Jauan Jennings continue to share lead duties. Bourne posted back-to-back WR1 performances in Weeks 5-6, while Jennings has led in targets the past two games despite difficult matchups. Facing the Giants should give both a path to fantasy relevance.
Xavier Worthy | Kansas City Chiefs
Expect plenty of scoring in the Chiefs-Bills showdown, but Xavier Worthy has slipped behind Rashee Rice as the clear WR2. His 11 targets the past two weeks produced only 88 yards; he’ll need a big play or touchdown to pay off.
Chimere Dike | Tennessee Titans
Building strong chemistry with fellow rookie QB, Chimere Dike has 11 catches on 12 targets for 163 yards and a TD over the past two games (WR11 in that span). The Chargers’ #6 pass defense, however, could slow his momentum.
Troy Franklin / Marvin Mims | Denver Broncos
Fresh off a WR1 overall finish, Troy Franklin is edging ahead of Marvin Mims Jr. as Denver’s #2 target. Both remain volatile, and a trip to Houston to face the league’s #1 defense will likely rein in expectations.
Tier 6 | Upside Flex Wide Receivers for Week 9

Kayshon Boutte | New England Patriots
With four touchdowns on 12 targets in his last three games, Kayshon Boutte has become a premier deep-ball threat for one of the league’s best vertical passers. Atlanta’s #1 pass defense limits yardage, but having allowed 11 passing TDs, another Boutte score remains in play.
Tre Tucker | Las Vegas Raiders
Aside from his shocking WR1 overall explosion in Week 3, Tre Tucker has averaged just 9 PPG. Even without Brock Bowers, he’s a pure boom-or-bust option dependent on big plays.

Tier 1 | Elite Tight End Starters For Week 9

Trey McBride | Arizona Cardinals & Tyler Warren | Indianapolis Colts
These are the top two tight ends for both ceiling and consistency. Trey McBride leads all TEs in targets, while Tyler Warren leads in receiving yards. Each has only one game outside TE1 range, and both can deliver overall TE1 production any given week.
Tier 2 | High-End Tight End Starters for Week 9

Brock Bowers | Las Vegas Raiders
After Week 1, it was clear something wasn’t right with last year’s TE1 overall. Though Brock Bowers still saw solid volume, he struggled to produce with his injury. Following four weeks of rest, he returns in a prime matchup against a Jacksonville defense vulnerable to the pass. Expect a vintage Bowers outing as the team funnels the offense through its best playmaker.
Oronde Gadsden II | Los Angeles Chargers
Over the last three weeks, Oronde Gadsden II has averaged 20.3 PPG, catching 19 of 21 targets for 309 yards and two scores. His chemistry with Justin Herbert has been instant, and Tennessee’s 29th-ranked scoring defense gives him another chance to keep the hot streak alive.
Travis Kelce | Kansas City Chiefs
While Rashee Rice is leading the team in targets and receptions, Travis Kelce still tops the Chiefs in receiving yards over the past two weeks. He’s coming off his best game of the year and faces a pivotal matchup with Buffalo, where Mahomes will likely lean on his superstar TE once again.
Tier 3 | Solid Tight End Options for Week 9

Jake Ferguson | Dallas Cowboys
After six straight TE1 performances, Jake Ferguson posted a goose egg last week as CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens absorbed most of Dak Prescott’s looks. The usage dip makes Ferguson’s floor volatile, though his red-zone involvement keeps him in play.
Evan Engram | Denver Broncos
Since returning from injury, Evan Engram’s role appeared to be trending up before Denver’s blowout loss to Dallas limited him to just four targets. He remains third in the pecking order, and a matchup against Houston’s top-ranked defense could make Week 9 another uphill battle.
Tiers 4 & 5 Week 9 Tight End Fantasy Football Rankings
Tier 4 | Fringe TE1 / Strong TE2 Plays for Week 9

T.J. Hockenson | Minnesota Vikings
Calling T.J. Hockenson’s season disappointing might be generous. He posted his two worst games with J.J. McCarthy under center, and Detroit’s top-10 defense presents another tough test. Unless the Vikings offense finds rhythm, his ceiling remains capped.
Zach Ertz | Washington Commanders
With Terry McLaurin sidelined, Zach Ertz slots in as the Commanders’ No. 2 receiving option. He’s already produced two high-end TE1 weeks, and with Jayden Daniels returning, the volume will be there. Seattle’s defense poses challenges, but the opportunity keeps Ertz firmly in the streaming mix.
Tier 5 | Deep League or Touchdown-Dependent Tight Ends for Week 9

Chigoziem Okonkwo | Tennessee Titans
With rookie Gunnar Helm earning more involvement, Chigoziem Okonkwo’s snap share and role are shrinking. Still without a touchdown this season and stuck in the league’s worst offense, Okonkwo’s fantasy value is fading fast.
Pat Freiermuth / Jonnu Smith | Pittsburgh Steelers
This duo effectively cancels each other out for fantasy relevance. The occasional Darnell Washington target adds more clutter, leaving Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith as pure desperation plays in an inconsistent offense.
