It seemed awfully convenient that Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson were suddenly over the moon about each other, just as they started promoting their film The Naked Gun. As a mostly hopeful romantic, I really wanted to believe their romance was real, and I was not alone. But according to TMZ, you, me, and a lot of celebrity shippers have been duped.
On Friday, the tabloid claimed that Anderson and Neeson’s incessant flirting was never a real relationship, just a promotional tactic for the film. Anonymous sources with “direct knowledge” apparently told TMZ that Paramount and the actors’ respective PR teams came up with the idea while they were filming last spring. Despite all the red-carpet cheek kisses, hand-holding, and public sweet talk, the sources say Anderson and Neeson didn’t see each other for more than a year after production ended, reuniting only for the press tour. Plus, any purported dinner dates were apparently just business meetings, with personal assistants also in attendance.
Was it all a ruse? Has Neeson even tried Anderson’s sourdough? I am a little upset with these two for executing this charade so well that I started to believe, for once, that love is real. However, I will not apologize for wanting the best for Pamela Anderson. That woman deserves a big love and romance and flirty dinners and red-carpet kisses, and I will not rest until she gets it.
