A WWE icon has been accused of reckless driving in a three-car crash.
Vince McMahon, former CEO and chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment, was traveling in his 2024 Bentley when it hit a 2023 BMW 430 near Westport, Connecticut, according to TMZ. McMahon’s car also hit a median guardrail.
A third vehicle, a Ford Fusion driving from the other direction, was reportedly struck by debris from the collision.
The New York Post reports the BMW driver, Barbara Doran, said in a Facebook post that she was headed for a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard when McMahon’s vehicle struck hers. She shared photos showing significant damage to her car and McMahon’s Bentley, which deployed its airbags.
No major injuries were reported, according to TMZ. All three people involved were reportedly wearing their seat belts.
McMahon was cited for reckless driving, a misdemeanor, and following too closely resulting in an accident. People magazine reports he was issued a summons to appear in court next month.
The incident occurred on the same day that wrestling legend Hulk Hogan died at age 71.
“The world lost a treasure today,” McMahon on X, hours after the crash. “Hulk Hogan was the greatest WWE Superstar of ALL TIME, someone who was loved and admired around the world. He was a trailblazer, the first performer who transitioned from being a wrestling star into a global phenomenon.
“His grit and unbridled thirst for success were unparalleled — and made him the consummate performer. He gave everything he had to the audience whom he appreciated, respected and loved. He leaves us with one of his favorite expressions, ‘Train, take your vitamins and say your prayers.’ Today, we pray for him.”
McMahon, 79, got his start as a wrestling commentator for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) before taking over the company from his father, Vincent J. McMahon, in the 1980s just before Hogan joined the WWF. Vince McMahon also competed as a wrestler, helped launch the WWE Network, and co-founded the XFL football league.
McMahon resigned from the WWE’s parent company, TKO Group, last year after a former employee filed a federal lawsuit accusing him of serious sexual misconduct. He and his wife, Linda McMahon, reportedly separated in 2024; she currently serves as Education Secretary in President Donald Trump’s administration.
