Video: Max Holloway point-down challenge goes horribly wrong for amateur fighter leading to brutal knockout

The Max Holloway point down to the canvas at closing moments of a fight has become an iconic and popularized move in the MMA world. Unfortunately, not every fighter is Max Holloway, as was shown in Louisiana on Saturday night.

During Saturday’s American Kombat Alliance 48 event in Marksville, Byron Walker faced Glen Norman in an amateur welterweight bout. Norman pointed to the canvas, a la Holloway, and Walker obliged, landing a right hand that turned Norman into a statue. Then, for good measure, Walker landed two more unanswered shots to Norman—who was already out on his feet—and put him out cold.

Check out the wild finish below.

Walker picked up his second victory as an MMA fighter, and also snapped a two-fight losing streak in the process. Three of his four mixed martial arts bouts took place for the AKA promotion.

The 34-year-old Norman saw his two-fight win and stoppage streak come to an end as he was finished for the second time in his career.
