Venice Film Festival 2025 Winners Announced: Live Updates

Refresh for latest…: The closing night of the 82nd Venice Film Festival is upon us, and with it the awards ceremony which is about to kick off inside the Sala Grande. The main competition jury, led by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alexander Payne, will anoint the next Golden Lion laureate while handing out prizes for acting, directing, screenwriting and more. Scroll down to follow along as we update the winners live.

It’s been a busy nearly two weeks on the Lido with the Competition films very well received in the main. This year also gave us what is considered to be a new record-holder for an ovation in Kaouther Ben Hania’s Gaza-set drama The Voice of Hind Rajab. One of the buzziest titles coming into the fest, it was met with an emotional response, roundly embraced by critics (currently at 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) and could be the one to beat to the Golden Lion tonight. It’s also repping Tunisia in the International Feature Oscar race, but still seeking North American distribution.

Other Competition titles receiving high praise included fest opener, La Grazia (Mubi) from Paolo Sorrentino and starring longtime collaborator Toni Servillo ; Kathryn Bigelow’s return with ensemble pic A House of Dynamite (Netflix); Dwayne Johnson/Emily Blunt-starrer The Smashing Machine (A24) from Benny Safdie; Mona Fastvold’s The Testament of Ann Lee, starring Amanda Seyfried; Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein (Netflix) led by Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi; Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia (Focus) with Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons; Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice, with a revelatory turn by Lee Byung-hun (also 100% on RT, and after the premiere here, Korea swiftly announced the black comedy thriller would be its submission for the International Oscar); and the last film to play, Silent Friend from Hungary’s Ildiko Enyedi.

With Venice the fall’s first awards season launchpad, eyes will be keenly trained on how the jury swings tonight.

Deadline is on site and updating winners live below.
