US Open live: Aryna Sabalenka v Amanda Anisimova latest score and updates from women’s final

Anisimova’s semi-final with Osaka was a wild one, with momentum swings throughout. It already feels like this will be similar.

Suddenly, Anisimova is broken to love. After a couple of misses from Anisimova, Sabalenka finds a deep return of her own and Anisimova nets.

Awesome depth from Anisimova, with Sabalenka again looking a little off-balance when defending the baseline against the American’s power.

Anisimova finds another brilliant strike, this time on the crosscourt forehand, and gets another look at break point. She takes it too! Superb return from Anisimova, right on the baseline, and Sabalenka hits out!

Roars as Anisimova holds to level the match. The American found a body serve that kicked up and appeared to strike Sabalenka in the chest. The World No 1 looked frustrated at the call.

There’s the Anisimova response! What a way to get the break back. She almost takes Sabalenka off her feet with the power of the forehand return, then finds the backhand pass. On her fourth break point, Anisimova takes it: she shows patience and then flashes the forehand down the line!

Sabalenka does what Anisimova could not and takes her opportunity to break early! Anisimova is rushed into consecutive forehand errors, with Sabalenka taking charge to move ahead.

Anisimova went a break down in the first set against Swiatek and Osaka – but not having the opportunity to go ahead herself.

What a gripping start already. Anisimova’s huge return brings up two more break points but Sabalenka stays alive, with the American going long against the second-serve.

Sabalenka has to wait for a butterfly to leave the court, and escapes with a battling hold as Anisimova fires long on the forehand.

But this is all about the Anisimova backhand. She rips one down the line and then attacks the Sabalenka second serve. The World No 1 already feels the pressure and double faults!

The big question as we prepare to start the US Open final is how Anisimova will settle into her second grand slam final.

She of course made the worst possible start against Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon, going on to lose 6-0 6-0.

But she has returned to the US Open a more resilient player. She lost her serve in the opening game against both Swiatek and Naomi Osaka in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, and yet bounced back.

The second question is how Sabalenka will react to Anisimova’s ball. These are two of the biggest hitters in the game, and Anisimova leads the head-to-head.
