Rafael Estevam and Tresean Gore missed weight badly for UFC Vegas 108.
At Friday’s official weigh-ins for Saturday’s event at UFC APEX, Estevam weighed in at 130 pounds (four pounds over the flyweight limit) and Gore weighed in at 189.5 pounds (three pounds over the middleweight limit) for their respective fights, which include the one-pound allowance for non-title bouts.
MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz confirmed that Estevam’s bout against Felipe Bunes (125) is set to proceed at a catchweight, with Bunes forfeiting 25 percent of his purse as penalty. Estevam steps in for Felipe Lima (undisclosed injury) on less than a month’s notice.
Cruz has also confirmed Gore’s bout against Rodolfo Vieira (185) will take place at a catchweight, with Gore also forfeiting 25 percent of his purse as penalty.
Fortunately for Saturday’s headlining bout – which already saw a late change with the undefeated Hyun Sung Park replacing Amir Albazi at the start of fight week – the main event competitors successfully made weight. Park and Tatsuro Taira both weighed in at 126 pounds, making use of the one-pound allowance for their non-title flyweight bout.
Other than Estevam and Gore, the other 22 fighters competing Saturday all successfully made weight.
