Carlos Prates is one of the best knockout specialists in the game right now and he proved it again earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 15, 2025) at UFC 322 LIVE on ESPN+ pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, putting a brutal stop to former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards with a second-round knockout (punch).
Despite Edwards’ experience and well-rounded skillset, the former welterweight king was a decent betting underdog for Saturday’s main card clash with Prates. After all, Prates had finished all six of his UFC wins and carried considerable momentum heading into NYC’s throwdown. It was up to Edwards to prove he still has what it takes to contend for UFC gold.
Edwards was able to use his wrestling and grappling to subdue Prates across the first round, but once Prates found his range in the second it was all over. Prates unleashed a clean left hand that actually took Edwards off his feet and sent “Rocky” violently crashing to the canvas. Prates landed one final left hand, but it wasn’t needed.
It was one of the best knockout finishes of the year and a performance that puts Prates on the doorstep of his first-ever UFC title shot. Check out the video highlights below:
