Dustin Poirier is set to make the walk to the UFC’s hallowed octagon for the final time at UFC 318 this Saturday in front of a home crowd at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. “The Diamond” is certainly leaving an incredible legacy behind, according to fellow pro fighters, teammates, and colleagues.
Poirier challenges Max Holloway for the BMF title in the main event of this weekend’s pay-per-view event. The former interim lightweight champion is set to compete in his 32nd and final UFC bout, and looks to make it 3-0 against Holloway in their trilogy matchup. Poirier picked up a submission win at UFC 143 in February 2012 against “Blessed” in Holloway’s promotional debut, then defeated Holloway via unanimous decision a little over seven years later at UFC 236 in the main event of UFC 236 for the interim 155-pound title.
Ahead of Poirier’s final fight, fighters and commentators such as Kayla Harrison, Stephen Thompson, Jon Anik, Bo Nickal, Dakota Ditcheva, and others react to Poirier calling it a career, and share some of their favorite moments, which can be seen in the video above.
