Donald Trump on Monday lashed out at “CBS Mornings” co-host Gayle King in a post on his Truth Social platform, declaring that: “Gayle King’s career is over.”
“She should have stayed with her belief in TRUMP,” the president added. “She never had the courage to do so. No talent, no ratings, no strength!!!”
Trump’s remarks came alongside a link to a New York Post article suggesting that King’s future at CBS is “murky” amid declining ratings and reported internal concerns over so-called “woke” coverage.
CBS has not commented on King’s status.
King has not responded to Trump’s post.
It remains unclear what Trump meant by her alleged prior “belief” in him, given her longstanding criticism of the president.
Trump’s attack on King, though, comes just weeks after CBS announced the cancellation of “The Late Show,” whose host Stephen Colbert is an unrelenting critic of the president. The last episode will air in May 2026.
The network cited financial pressures for the move. But it came after CBS agreed a controversial $16 million legal settlement with Trump and as its parent company Paramount sought approval from Trump’s government to merge with Skydance Media. That has now been granted.

Trump celebrated the nixing of Colbert’s show and predicted that other late-night hosts, including Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, will be axed as well.
