A California man has issued a startling warning to travelers after his luggage was nabbed by thieves who tried to steal his clothes.
Daniel Scott, of West Hollywood, was waiting for his suitcase to arrive at LAX Airport on August 26 when he soon realized his bag, equipped with an Apple AirTag, was on the move.
Scott, who had just landed from Salt Lake City, Utah that evening, made his way to carousel 25, but was soon told his bag would be coming out at baggage claim 23.
When he got to the correct carousel, Scott expected to see his luggage come out, but it never appeared.
Thankfully, he placed the $30 tracking device in his suitcase – something that assisted him in finding his stolen items.
‘So I grabbed my phone and I looked at it and saw that it was not in this terminal, but was moving toward the Uber lot and leaving the airport,’ the traveler told NBCLA.
Scott then ‘immediately’ started running to the location, but when he got there, he saw that his bag was still on the move and headed across the street toward an abandoned building.
‘I knew my luggage said that it was in the vicinity,’ Scott recalled.

While he was on the hunt for his suitcase, Scott’s partner called the LAX police.
When authorities arrived, they approached the boarded up building with a flashlight and found several people, including one man who was wearing Scott’s clothing.
‘And then when the guys came to the window, (officers) lined them up in the window. I saw the guy with my clothes on – my shoes on, my shirt on, my pants on,’ Scott stated.
Video obtained by NBCLA showed police detaining several people as they sat with their hands behind their backs along the sidewalk.
It is unclear if they were charged. Daily Mail contacted the Los Angeles Airport Police department for comment.
While the arrests took place, Scott was able to go into the building and look for his suitcase.
When he located it, his belongings were riffled through inside. Some of his clothing was also scattered across the building.
Scott said he was pleased to get 90 percent of his clothing back, but still wants the incident to serve as an example for others.

He insisted that travelers need to put an AirTag or some type of tracking device in their suitcases, because that’s what gave him ‘a fighting chance.’
‘It just gave me a fighting chance to find my luggage and be able to retrieve it,’ Scott explained.
‘It was insane, absolutely,’ he said of the bizarre situation.
AirTags can be used for everyday personal objects, including luggage, keys, wallets and more.
They connect to Apple Find My, a tracking system in devices that can pinpoint the exact location of items.
