Tom Holland Unveils New Spider-Man Suit for 2026’s ‘Brand New Day’

While rumors persist on whether or not Tom Holland will be the next actor to take on James Bond, he’s returning to the role that made his a household name — revealing the full, more-traditional-looking costume for next year’s “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” in an August 2 teaser video posted to his Instagram.

In the clip, large elephant doors open up in a bare sound stage, revealing the silhouette of Holland, who jogs toward the camera, stopping as the light hits him in his Spidey suit — one which resembles that of the original Marvel comic books. He says, seemingly to the movie’s not-pictured crew, “We ready?” Then he dashes out of frame.

The post also lists the release date, July 31, 2026 (announced in March) — which will place it hitting theaters nearly five years after the fourth Holland-led Spider-Man flick was released in December 2021, “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” That one famously webbed together the entirety of Sony’s “Spider-Man” output, with a multiverse plot that brought back Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield’s versions of Peter Parker. That movie was a monster hit — I mean, truly monstrous, grossing nearly $2 billion worldwide.

Since then, however, there has been much ado about what to do with Spider-Man, as Sony debated exactly how to utilize the character — which the company has to keep using in order to retain the screen rights. According to Forbes, the studio has to “as a general rule” have started a new Spider-Man production within 3 years and 9 months of the last Spider-Man movie’s release, and no more than 5 years and 9 months can lapse between Spider-Man releases.

Of course, other Spidey related properties have been released since then — including the much-maligned “Madame Web” in 2024 and the much, much, much better-received animated 2023 film “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” which was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars and had its own impressive box office run. Between these projects, Sony certainly hasn’t been sleeping on keeping its rights intact.

Holland, meanwhile, has been busy since his last foray into superhero fare. Bond rumors aside, he will lead — alongside Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, fellow “Spider-Man” co-star and girlfriend Zendaya, and a host of other stars — the highly anticipated Christopher Nolan film “The Odyssey,” based on the famed Homer story. On working with the “Oppenheimer” director, Holland told GQ Sports it was “the best experience I’ve had on the film set. Incredible. It was exciting. It was different. And I think the movie is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen.”

That movie will hit wide release on July 17, 2026, just two weeks before Holland slings into theaters as Peter Parker once again on July 31, 2026… which would make Holland next summer’s Pedro Pascal.

But as for Bond, Holland told Gordon Ramsey, “Listen, there’s speculation at the minute. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day.”
