As thousands of Lubavitchers prepare to travel to New York for the month of Tishrei, Chabad’s Emergency and Security Center (CWA) has launched a new campaign urging guests to arrange proper health and travel insurance ahead of their trip.
The initiative, titled “May We Have a Safe New Year”, aims to highlight the importance of taking practical precautions alongside spiritual preparations.
Using familiar imagery such as a gartel, the campaign is designed to resonate with Chassidim and reinforce the message that early organization can make a crucial difference in moments of need.
“For years we have been working to safeguard shluchim around the world,” the CWA said in a statement. “This is not a luxury. It is a basic necessity. Together with arranging flights, lodging, and learning schedules, one must ensure valid medical insurance for the entire duration of the stay abroad.”
The reminder comes in light of several unfortunate medical emergencies in recent years that led to urgent crowdfunding campaigns that asked hosting families in Crown Heights, as well as Lubavitchers worldwide for help.
Organizers say that with proper insurance coverage, families can avoid financial strain while ensuring professional treatment in case of unexpected medical situations.
