
Today, Apple CEO Tim Cook visited Corning’s factory in Harrodsburg, KY, where he spoke with CNBC’s Jim Kramer about the company’s recent product announcements, as well as Apple’s investment in the glass maker. Watch the videos below.
‘It’s like holding the future in your hand’
Kramer and Cook’s visit to Corning’s factory rendered two videos: one in which Cook promoted the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone Air, as well as the AirPods’ new live translation feature, and a second one in which they were accompanied by Corning CEO Wendell Weeks.
During the first exchange, after highlighting the Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro’s “killer color,” Cook showcased the iPhone Air.
Interestingly, he defined the device phone as having “pro performance in that smaller package,” echoing Apple’s angle during a recent WSJ interview, in which the company’s executives, Cook included, claimed they wanted consumers to be torn between the two devices.
When Kramer asked about battery life, saying that “most viewers presume that battery life must be much shorter,” here’s what Cook had to say:
“The battery life is great. You’re going to love the battery life. (…) We engineered it from the inside out. It’s eSIM-only. And so we were able to take the battery and extend the battery to areas that previously had the physical SIM. And so, it’s incredible innovation.”

‘A tremendous transference from overseas to America’
In the second segment, Cook and Weeks discussed Apple’s recent investment in Corning, which will transform the Harrodsburg factory into a dedicated glass producer for the iPhone and Apple Watch.
The investment is part of Apple’s “American Manufacturing Program,” which will dedicate $600 billion over the next four years to domestic manufacturing initiatives and infrastructure.
