The Eagles- Cowboys Week 1 opener had to be paused due to lightning and severe weather in the area around Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.
The game was stopped with 4:44 remaining in the third quarter with the Eagles leading the Cowboys 24-20.
NBC play-by-play broadcaster Mike Tirico said the game will resume around 11:30 p.m. ET.
“A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for our area,” a message on the stadium video board read. “These storms may produce severe conditions, including lightning and strong winds.

“For your safety, please exit the open seating area at this time and seek shelter along the concourses.”
Both teams eventually left the field and returned to their locker rooms to wait out the delay.
