Penn State opened its season against an overmatched Nevada Wolfpack team, and the game played out exactly as you would expect.
The benefit of doing this against Nevada, instead of the originally-scheduled Virginia Tech, is that the Lions were able to get the early game oopsies out of the way without it costing them. There were a few overaggressive plays on defense, and a few nervous ones on offense —one of which cost Penn State a touchdown, which were enough to put some things on film, but not enough to make the Lions nervous at any point in the game.
Kyron Hudson and Trebor Peña look like the solid 1 and 2 at receiver. Who takes over the third receiver spot between Liam Clifford, Devonte Ross, and one of the younger players, is something we’ll see play out over the next two games.
Penn State went no huddle more often in this game than what felt like all of last season. This may be the next iteration of what the Kotelnicki offense is going to look like with the Lions.
Dani Dennis-Sutton was a monster in this game. His two forced fumbles were as many as he had all of last season!
