PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — Three officers were injured Wednesday during an incident in Pittsylvania County.
ABC13 was on the scene early in the evening, where there was a large police presence. Authorities held a press conference on Wednesday night to give an update.
Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said three officers went to 611 Blue Jay Lane to serve warrants and a protective order. As soon as they approached the home, officials say they were met with gunfire.
Officers reported two had been struck by shrapnel. One of those officers was taken to the ER out of caution; that officer has been released.
Officials said the officers were shaken up, but luckily, they only sustained superficial shrapnel wounds.

One man, James Andreu Lehnerd, was taken into custody following an hours-long standoff. He is in jail awaiting charges.
Lehnerd surrendered without further incident. Officials say they are not releasing any further details at this time, but that Lehnerd will be facing serious charges. They are working with the Commonwealth’s Attorney to determine what charges will be appropriate.
Sgt. Rick Garletts with the Virginia State Police said VSP had been asked to investigate, and that the process was just beginning. Agents will be gathering evidence, and the suspect was being interviewed.
Sgt. Garletts said the incident could have ended much worse; he also said the incident involved seasoned officers who were using the same precautions they always use.
