This one Pixel 10 feature just leaked, and it’s the main reason I want to upgrade

As we get closer to the August 20th Made by Google event, the picture of the upcoming Pixel 10 series is becoming quite clear; and the prevailing story so far has been one of iteration. The external design, while clean and refined, doesn’t look to be a massive departure from the Pixel 9. But this week, a new leak from a very reliable source has confirmed one new feature that, for me, changes everything.

Renowned leaker Evan Blass has shared what appears to be an official render of a new “Pixelsnap Charger” magnetically attached to a Pixel 10. This all but confirms that the Pixel 10 series will finally include Qi2 magnets for wireless charging. And with that one, simple addition, the Pixel 10 just became infinitely more exciting and a day-one upgrade for certain.

The MagSafe-sized hole in the Pixel experience

For years, I’ve looked on with envy at the massive, mature, and incredibly useful ecosystem of MagSafe accessories for the iPhone. It is without doubt one of those things that Apple simply got right. While there have been third-party cases and stick-on rings to bring some of that functionality to Pixel phones, it’s never been the same as a true, native solution.

The ability to seamlessly snap your phone onto a car mount, a bedside charger, a wallet, or a portable battery pack without a second thought is a legitimate game-changer for day-to-day usability. It’s a convenience that, once you get used to it, is very hard to live without. It’s been the one missing piece of the Pixel hardware puzzle for me for a long time.

Why ‘Pixelsnap’ is a game-changer for the Pixel

This isn’t just about easier wireless charging, though that is a great perk. This is about finally unlocking that entire world of accessories for Pixel users. The convenience of a magnetic connection for all sorts of peripherals is what makes this such a massive deal. The fact that the leak shows this feature on the base model Pixel 10 is also a great sign that it will likely be included across the entire lineup.

And for me, personally, this is the feature that seals the deal. I can say with confidence that the inclusion of native magnetic charging is the primary reason I’ll be choosing a new Pixel 10 this year over something like the Galaxy S25 Ultra. While other phones might have different spec advantages, this single, practical, quality-of-life improvement will have a far greater impact on my daily experience.

While a new processor and cool new AI software tricks are always welcome, sometimes it’s the simple, tangible hardware upgrades that matter most. Coming from a source as solid as Evan Blass, this leak feels very credible, and it makes the Pixel 10 an instant must-buy for me. Now I can’t wait for August 20th.
