There’s apparently a very good Mario-themed reason you should go and see Wicked: For Good this November

If you are planning on clicking your heels together and setting off to the cinema to watch Wicked: For Good, the next film in the musical adaptation of Oz’s witches Glinda and Elphaba, you may also get a first proper peep at another famous duo.

According to insider accounts @MyTimeToShineH and @TheWickedSource, a trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie – which is to say, the upcoming sequel to 2023’s hugely successful The Super Mario Bros. Movie – will be attached to screenings of Wicked: For Good, which is set to release on 21st November.

The Mario movie sequel was first teased for a 2026 release back in March of last year. At this time, we were told the next film in the franchise will “broaden Mario’s world further”, though further details were kept largely under wraps. Following this, Toad voice actor Keegan-Michael Key teased the film would feature an “intriguing” setting alongside “old favourite” characters and “really deep cuts”, but again stopped short of revealing too much.

Then, just this September, Nintendo gave us a better idea of just how much broader this film’s setting will be, when it announced the official title as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Perhaps later this month we will get a look at Rosalina, who surely will make an appearance in the film. I mean, Lumalee popped up in the first Mario Bros. film, so was this all a bit of foreshadowing? Well, there’s potentially not much longer until we find out, with some now hoping Ariana Grande will voice Rosalina.

Along with a Mario sequel, Nintendo also has a live-action Legend of Zelda film in the works. Earlier this year, the studio announced Link and Zelda will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason.
