Fans of creator Mike White’s The White Lotus finally find out where the globe-trotting drama series is headed for its highly anticipated fourth season. The series is now moving back to Europe.
Per Deadline, The White Lotus Season 4 is officially headed to the shores of France. The series has long been filmed at various Four Seasons hotels in the territories where each season is set, leaving fans with a relatively short list of potential locations that could serve as sets for Season 4. Among these are the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat at the top of the Cap-Ferrat peninsula in the French Riviera, Megève in the heart of the French Alps, and Hotel George V, situated deep within the picturesque streets of Paris.
So far, no decision has been made, and it’s likely to use different resorts for Season 4, similar to Season 3, which used the Seasons Resort Koh Samui as its main setting, along with three other non-Four Seasons hotels. Previous seasons of The White Lotus have all been set within the walls of different locations of the fictional high-profile hotel chain in Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand across Seasons 1, 2, and 3, respectively.
Creator, lead writer, and showrunner Mike White had previously teased a break from wave-crashing sceneries, “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves of rocks vernacular, but there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.”
The first season of The White Lotus premiered on HBO in 2021 and immediately found a place for itself in the annals of pop culture as the latest hit near-anthology series. While each season is set in a different location and largely features entirely different ensemble casts, individual characters have served to serve as something of a throughline for The White Lotus as a whole.
Among these returning characters are Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya McQuoid, who appeared in Seasons 1 and 2, Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda Lindsey, who appeared in Seasons 2 and 3, and Jon Gries’ Greg Hunt, aka Gary, the only character to appear in all three seasons of The White Lotus. It’s unclear who returns to The White Lotus Season 4, as there is no cast attached at the time of writing.
Why One Pop Culture Icon Will Never Make a Cameo on Mike White’s The White Lotus
Back in August, Survivor host Jeff Probst, who knows The White Lotus creator Mike White quite well thanks to the latter’s appearances in multiple episodes of the long-running reality show, confirmed that he has no interest in appearing in the hit drama as other non-acting celebrities have in past seasons. “No, Mike should never put me on White Lotus,” Probst said at the time.
The satire murder mystery series has already used several Survivor contestants, but Probst will not be among them. “I really love the cameos and how he uses people. And I think that, too, speaks to Mike as a person… He’s also able to do the show with people who are not from Hollywood, and then invite them into his world and say, ‘Why don’t you come experience what it’s like to be on the set of White Lotus for a day?’ and, ‘I’m going to put you in the seat.’ That’s incredible confidence and incredible generosity of spirit,” Probst added.
The first three seasons of The White Lotus are currently available for streaming on HBO Max.
