Jenny Han, the author and co-showrunner of Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, just revealed an Easter Egg from the season that relates to season 3, episode 1, and the most recent episode.
If you don’t know, the series is largely centered on a love triangle between Lola Tung‘s Belly, Gavin Casalegno‘s Jeremiah, and his on-screen brother, Christopher Briney‘s Conrad.
In season 3, episode 1, one of the songs that played was SZA‘s “Open Arms,” a song also featuring Travis Scott. The first episode of the season showed Belly and Jeremiah in happy times enjoying their college dating life together. Many fans believed that with lyrics such as, “I’m so devoted to you, to you, to you,” and “I’m forever ridin’, we forever guided,” it might’ve meant that the couple was destined to be together.
Now, Jenny Han is revealing that this song actually contained an Easter Egg for something that happened in season 3, episode 8.
