You may have seen that Luis Diaz has touched down in Germany to sign for Bayern Munich from Liverpool FC. He rode in the team manager’s black Audi Q8 (you’ll see why this is important in a bit) instead of the red Audi that Bayern normally uses to transport its new signings.
The red Audi in question is a Mk II (second generation) Audi Q3 (Typ F3). Players like Harry Kane (in the lead pic), Eric Dier, Jonas Urbig have all ridden this car en route to the club’s facilities to sign their contracts; it is important to note that the red Audi isn’t used for every transfer (i.e. Chuck’s golden boy James Rodriguez rode a van).
The club published an article on their official website three years ago (during the 20th anniversary of the partnership between the two parties) and it revealed that the players and personnel can pick from one of three Audi models. These are the RS e-tron GT (Audi’s executive car), Q4 e-tron (crossover SUV), and the Q8 e-tron sportback. The term “e-tron“ refers to the fact that this line of Audis are partially or fully electric vehicles.
Diaz won’t have to worry though, because Sonny Scherer’s Audi isn’t too dissimilar to the red Audi. The team manager’s vehicle (as seen in the video) is also an Audi Q8 (albeit a black one) rocking the 22-inch alloys (it appears to be the Super Concaves) instead of the standard 21-inch alloys. This specific wheel type is also used in other Audi models.
