“And so it begins.” We’re getting a look at some of the first footage from Season 2 of HBO Max‘s The Pitt in a just-released trailer. Robby (Noah Wyle) is back at work at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Another day, another chaotic shift.
“You guys do this everyday?”, asks a new med student played by Laëtitia Hollard. “If we’re lucky,” replies Santos (Isa Briones).
We also get a look at Dr. Frank Langdon’s (Patrick Ball) first day back at work after his return from rehab.
HBO Max also confirmed a January 2026 release for Season 2, a specific date TBA.
From creator R. Scott Gemmill and producer John Wells, The Pitt chronicles the urgent challenges U.S. frontline healthcare professionals face through the lens of the fictional Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department. Offering a real-time format, the series traces, hour-by-hour, the medical cases and personal crises physicians and nurses must navigate as they reckon with an overabundance of patients and a lack of resources.
The series is led by Wyle, who also executive produces and writes. The ensemble cast also includes Katherine LaNasa, Tracy Ifeachor, Taylor Dearden, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Fiona Dourif, Supriya Ganesh, Shabana Azeez, Gerran Howell and guest star Shawn Hatosy.
Gemmill previous revealed to Deadline that Season 2 take place over Fourth of July weekend, and will feature a time jump, new characters and possible promotions for returning cast.
Season 1 of the series, a critical and audience darling, has already nabbed wins at the Gotham TV Awards and is poised to be a major player in Emmy contention with 13 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Wyle. The inaugural season is also set to air on TNT.
The medical drama is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television — where JWP is under an overall deal. EPs are Wyle, Wells, JWP’s Erin Jontow, Michael Hissrich and Simran Baidwan.
