The Giants, the Jets and the desperation of 0-2

Here they are again. The Giants are 0-2 for the 10th time in the past 13 seasons. The Jets are 0-2 for the fifth time in the past nine seasons.

It has been 18 years since the Giants started a season with two losses and reached the playoffs. It ended with Plaxico Burress’ touchdown ruining the Patriots’ perfect season. It has been 27 years since the Jets started a season with two losses and reached the playoffs. That one ended with Aaron Glenn and Bill Parcells falling one win short of the Super Bowl.

The winless have hope, even if just 12.2 percent of teams that have started 0-2 have made the postseason since 1990. Last season, three teams (Ravens, Rams, Broncos) reached the playoffs after dropping their first two games.
