The Fallout TV Show Writers Room Board The Andromeda For Mass Effect Show

The first season of Fallout, starring Ella Purnell as vault dweller Lucy and Walton Goggins as the enigmatic Ghoul, debuted in April of 2024 and was met with critical and commercial acclaim. The show’s success led Amazon to quickly greenlight a second season, with production already wrapped and several high-profile cast additions, such as Kumail Nanjiani and Macaulay Culkin.

This success story has significant implications for another beloved video game franchise: Mass Effect. In November of last year, Amazon confirmed that a Mass Effect series was officially in development, with screenwriter Daniel Casey (Fast & Furious 9) taking on writing and executive producing duties. It was only recently that fans noticed Casey’s Instagram post from the time also revealed that several key members of the Fallout production team, including development executive Scott Farris, would also be involved in the Mass Effect series.

Casey emphasized in his post that developing Mass Effect is a long-term, deeply personal project, with the writing already in motion. He praised the Amazon team, particularly Farris, for their role in shaping past hits, notably Fallout, which earned 16 Emmy nominations (taking home two) and, according to Amazon, its most watched original series to date.

“As one of the company’s earliest hires, Scott was a founding member of its original scripted drama team and played a key role in launching marquee series such as The Man in the High Castle, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Jack Ryan,” Farris’ LinkedIn page reads (via Eurogamer).

Additionally, Doug Jung, known for Star Trek Beyond and the upcoming Chief of War, has joined the Mass Effect project as its showrunner, further strengthening the creative lineup. While few plot details have been revealed, anticipation is high, especially among fans who recall Henry Cavill’s past interest in the franchise. However, with Cavill now focused on Amazon’s Warhammer adaptation, his involvement seems unlikely.

Amazon’s Mass Effect adaptation has been in the works since 2021, with Casey being announced back in November as an executive producer/writer, alongside EA’s Michael Gamble and Ari Arad (Iron Man, Uncharted, upcoming Zelda movie), also producing.

There’s no current exact date for Fallout Season 2, but Goggins has promised fans that it “blows Season 1 out of the water.”
