‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Adds Rachel Bloom, Patrick Brammall

EXCLUSIVE: Count Crazy Ex-Girlfriend co-creator and star Rachel Bloom and Colin From Accounts co-creator, EP and star Patrick Brammall on the runway for 20th Century Studios’ The Devil Wear Prada 2.

The duo joined original stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci which has director David Frankel returning as well as scribe Aline Brosh McKenna. In fact, the sequel reps a reunion for McKenna and Bloom, as the two co-created Crazy Ex-Girlfriend together.

The sequel follows Streep’s Runway editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly who is squaring off against her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt) who is now a big-time executive in fashion circles; the two competing for ad revenue.

Bloom and Brammall’s roles are being kept under wraps. They’re also starring with a new cast of characters including Kenneth Branagh as Priestly’s husband, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, Caleb Hearon, Tracie Thoms, Helen J Chen, Tibor Feldman, Conrad Ricamora, Pauline Chalamet and Simone Ashley.

Pic’s original producers Wendy Finerman and EP Karen Rosenfelt are back. Production is underway for a May 1, 2026 theatrical release.

Bloom, who is repped by WME, Sugar23, YMU Entertainment, and Ginsburg Daniels Kallis, won a 2016 Golden Globe for Best Actress in Comedy or Musical Series for her turn as Rebecca Bunch in the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She also won the 2016 TCA Award for Individual Achievement in Comedy. In 2019, she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics alongside songwriting partners Jack Dolgen and the late Adam Schlesinger for, Antidepressants Are So Not a Big Deal.
In 2019, Rachel sold out Radio City Music Hall performing Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Live as part of a multi-show tour. In the same year she also starred in her own solo tour, What Am I Going to Do with My Life Now? which included a week-long residency at Just For Laughs.
 
Bloom co-starred in the Critics’ Choice nominated Hulu comedy series, Reboot (2022), alongside Keegan-Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville, and Paul Reiser. Her upcoming projects include guest starring in season 2 of HBO’s Julia as well as appearing in the new Muppets Mayhem Musical Series on Disney+. Other notable TV credits include IFC’s Bar Fight!, PortlandiaiZombie (2018), iCarly (2022), Rupaul’s Drag Race, and The Tony Awards.

Brammall is represented by Atlas Artists, UTA, Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, and RGM Artists in Australia. His Paramount+ series Colin From Accounts received two Gotham TV Award wins for Breakthrough Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series for Harriet Dyer in its first season.
 
Brammall is starring in Apple TV+’s upcoming crime thriller The Dispatcher, adapted from the Ryan David Jahn book of the same name and produced by 60Forty Films (SLOW HORSES). Brammall will star as police detective Ian Hunt, whose life fell apart ten years ago when his young daughter Maggie disappeared without a trace. Now working as a police dispatcher, the only thing that has kept him going is his implacable refusal to accept that she might be gone forever.
 
Brammall currently voices Uncle Rad on the Peabody Award-winning children’s show Bluey, and he recently portrayed Andy Bouchard on CBS’ Evil.”  Previously, Brammall developed No Activity for Jungle Entertainment in Australia and later adapted it for CBS.
