Gerber shared a post of social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) in which he started a fresh debate around Apple’s future amid the growing pressure to evolve in the age of artificial intelligence. In a direct message to Apple CEO Tim Cook, Gerber wrote, “Apple needs new leadership. Tim has been phenomenal for a long time but it’s time for change. Apple and Google working together is destiny. Kill Siri. Ask Gemini.” The statement made by Gerber signals the growing investor sentiment that Apple may need fresh leadership in order to stay competitive as the tech landscape is shifting rapidly towards AI-driven platforms.

Apple may announce CEO Tim Cook’s retirement as soon as early 2026
Apple CEO Tim Cook is reportedly planning to step down as soon as next year, reports Financial Times. Quoting people familiar with internal discussions, the report says that the company is not expected to name a new CEO before its next earnings report in late January, which covers the crucial holiday quarter. It further states that an announcement early in the year would give its new leadership team time to settle in ahead of its big annual keynote events including developer conference in June and iPhone 18 launch in September. However, the timing could still shift, the sources added.As per the report, the current CEO Tim Cook is said to be succeeded by John Ternus, Apple’s senior vice-president of hardware engineering. However, no final decision has been made, sources told the publication. They also stressed that the transition plans are not tied to Apple’s current performance, as the company heads into what is expected to be a strong holiday season for iPhone sales.
