Terence Crawford is going against the norm when it comes to who the best boxer in the UFC is.
Crawford is getting set to face Canelo Alvarez in a huge boxing bout on Sept. 13 in Las Vegas — which is being co-promoted by UFC CEO Dana White. With that, Crawford spoke with the Full Send Podcast and was asked who the best boxer in the UFC is.
Surprisingly, Crawford didn’t go with lightweight champ Ilia Topuria, he chose former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt.
“It’s my guy, Cody [Garbrandt],” Crawford said. “He’s the best UFC boxer.”
Crawford puts his undefeated boxing record on the line in one of the biggest fights of 2025. “Bud” has solidified himself as one of the sport’s best pound-for-pound fighters and looks to carry that over into the bout with Alvarez, who is on a six-fight win streak.
Despite the host full on trying to sell Topuria to Crawford as the UFC’s best pugilist, Crawford stuck to his guns and explained why he believes Garbrandt is better at pure boxing.
“Yeah, but I don’t know, man, Cody’s got those hands,” Crawford said. “But I’m saying, when you’re talking about straight boxing, we ain’t talking about nothing else, we’re talking about straight boxing skills, I just think Cody’s got the best boxing skills in the UFC. But that’s just my opinion.”
