Taylor Swift’s Naked Dress Is Nothing But a Layer of Green Jewels

Taylor Swift is well and truly living the life of a showgirl. Her new album is finally here and she is feeding fans with even more showgirl fashion. In a new Instagram post, the singer shared a series of new photos from her Life of a Showgirl era—and they are just as glitzy and glamorous as one could have hoped.

One new showgirl look saw Swift hopping aboard the naked jewel dress. The singer posed in a hallway wearing a teeny tiny mini dress made of nothing but a layer of bright green jewels set in gold. She paired the itty bitty dress with a pair of fishnets, towering high black heels, and some unexpected jewelry: two diamond anklets. She wore her hair straight with her signature bangs falling across her forehead revealing a deep smokey eye below.

Swift also wore a few new deep red looks in the post. One photo featured Swift wearing a red satin corset with strands of red ruby jewels, which she paired with over-the-elbow red satin gloves and red earrings. Another look consisted of a burnt orange sequined gown, which she also paired with over-the-elbow gloves. Her final look featured a sheer, flowing pale pink robe with rosy fur trim, which she wore over a corset.

Alongside the photos, Swift wrote a reflective caption about the new album.

“Tonight all these lives converge here / The mosaics of laughter and cocktails of tears / Where fraternal souls sing identical things / And it’s beautiful / It’s rapturous. / It is frightening,” she wrote.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self portrait. If you thought the big show was wild, perhaps you should come and take a look behind the curtain… The Life of a Showgirl is out now.”

These daring, dramatic, high glam look mark a change from her more subdued IRL aesthetic for her new era. As Swift embarks on a press tour for the album today, she is opting for more subtle, classic looks. Stopping by BBC’s Radio 1, for instance, she wore a black two-piece with oversized jewels that coordinate with her engagement ring. She also rocked a black LBD with silver jewels lining the neckline.

Swift’s album features a few nods to her fiancé, Travis Kelce… including a few raunchy ones in her song “Wood.” Fans are also already hypothesizing that the album may include a Charli XCX “diss track.”
