Taylor Swift’s $6,000 ‘Showgirl’ Look Contains ‘Reputation’ Easter Eggs

  • Taylor Swift continued to spark fan theories that Life of a Showgirl will include some nods to Reputation during her latest appearance.
  • In a video shared on Saturday, September 20, the “Karma” singer paired her Life of a Showgirl-coded orange top with so many Reputation Easter eggs.
  • Her Versace watch appeared to be a reference to both albums, suggesting a link between the two.

Taylor Swift’s Life of a Showgirl era is in full swing, with the “Down Bad” singer effectively making the album’s signature bright orange hue the color of the fall. Swift has been back in the spotlight ahead of her twelfth studio album’s release on October 3, but her latest Showgirl-inspired appearance is getting the Swiftie rumor mill going with so many Reputation Easter eggs.

Fans had all but given up hope for a Reputation (Taylor’s Version) release after Swift unexpectedly purchased the rights for her masters back in May. However, as early artwork and concepts of Life of a Showgirl began coming out, people couldn’t help but notice certain similarities between the two, especially with her working with Reputation’s producers Max Martin and Shellback again. As fans debate whether Life of a Showgirl is a Reputation companion album (potentially with some Reputation vault tracks on the set list), Swift only flamed the speculation as she combined her Showgirl orange with several sartorial nods to Reputation during her latest appearance.

In a new TikTok shared on her @TaylorNation account on Saturday, September 20, Swift nodded to her upcoming album in an orange Reformation Teo Cashmere Short Sleeve top ($128), which she paired with a muted orange lipstick. Her teal manicure—the album’s other signature color—kept the theme going. However, the rest of Swift’s outfit looked like it was straight from the edgy, punk rock-coded Reputation style vault—a major departure both musically and stylistically from Taylor’s former aesthetic. For Saturday’s video, Swift wore a black leather Versace skirt ($1,990) with an eye-catching Medusa logo, a serpentine symbol that references the snake mythology of Reputation.

Her gold hardware Versace Hera watch ($1,650), which features a black leather band, also boasts a nod to the album’s snake mascot with its Medusa logo. However, representing the Greek goddess of marriage and the goddess of the twelve Olympians, Swift’s Versace watch also appears to hint at Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce as well as her twelfth studio album.

Last but not least, Swift’s FoundRae “T” initial necklace ($1,800) appears to be a nod to Kelce and the Reputation track “Call It What You Want,” in which she sings, “I want to wear his initial on a chain ’round my neck.” Plus, the gothic script looks just like the distinct font on Reputation’s album.

It’s possible that Life of a Showgirl could potentially feature some new Reputation tracks (Swift has included some snippets of new versions of “Delicate,” “Gorgeous,” and “Look What You Made Me Do” on shows like The Summer I Turned Pretty and The Handmaid’s Tale, as well as on her TikTok). However, she previously revealed she hadn’t “even re-recorded a quarter” of Reputation yet because she “kept hitting a stopping point” in a fan letter penned after her masters purchase. However, Swift didn’t rule out a Reputation (Taylor’s Version) release, revealing that the album would only “re-emerge when the time is right” and “from a place of celebration.”
