Taylor Swift used her latest moment behind a mic to clown football fans who complain when the camera cuts to her during games.
Swift has received misplaced criticism from some football fans ever since her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce went public in 2023. After that, Swift was frequently in the crowd cheering him on, and the broadcast would frequently cut to her celebrating, triggering some sports fans.
Swift cheekily addressed it during a clip teasing her much-anticipated appearance on Kelce’s podcast “New Heights” on Wednesday night.
“Thanks for having me on my favorite podcast,” she told Kelce after a full-throated introduction from his brother and co-host, Jason Kelce. “As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast, and I think we all know that if there’s one thing that male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens, it’s more of me.”
The clip dropped hours before the video podcast is set to be released, on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. EST.
Prior to the appearance, Swift announced that her new album is called “The Life of a Showgirl,” and another clip from the podcast teases that the album cover will be revealed in tonight’s episode.
Despite some football fans’ complaints, Swifts appearance at NFL games gave the league a boost in several metrics, including huge spikes in female viewership, increased jersey sales and even a surge in “New Heights” listeners.
