Taylor Swift Goes Pantsless in Thong Bodysuit and Fishnet Stockings for Vinyl Album Cover

  • Taylor Swift released a new vinyl version of her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl on August 18.
  • In the art for the vinyl record, Swift is sultry and seductive in a high-cut, beaded bodysuit and fishnet tights.
  • Swift’s album art for her latest project—her 12th studio album—has been more risqué than fans have seen in the past.

Taylor Swift’s new The Life of a Showgirl era is, so far anyway, doubling as her most risqué era of dressing, too.

That was on display when Swift released her vinyl album cover, showing the singer-songwriter in a high-cut bodysuit and fishnet tights. Called The Shiny Bug Vinyl Collection, Swift said this alternative version of The Life of a Showgirl would be available for 48 hours in a post shared on August 18. Fans could choose from the wintergreen and onyx marbled vinyl or the violet shimmer marbled vinyl.

The seductive snap was taken, as with the rest of Swift’s art for this record, by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and in addition to her beaded bodysuit and fishnet tights, Swift wore opera gloves adorned with rhinestones, Swift’s body on full display as she puts her hands up against a wall. She added a statement crimson lip and smokey eye makeup to complete the sultry look.

Per Us Weekly, both vinyl variants sold out within an hour of the drop (no way that Swifties were going to let them remain on the shelves for 48 hours).

This new photo released Monday comes after other album art was released on August 13, the same day Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl on boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast “New Heights” (which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce). The photos are racier and more bold than Swift has done in the past, and she said of Alas and Piggott on “New Heights,” “For the photos, I love the photography so much.”

Calling Alas and Piggott “two of my favorite photographers,” Swift added, “I called them up for this one and I’m so happy with how the photos came out.”

Of the album’s cover photo—which features Swift partially submerged in water—“This represents the end of my night,” Swift said. “When I’m on tour, I have the same day every single day. My day ends with me in a bathtub.”

“Not usually in a bedazzled dress, but we tried to keep it decent,” she continued.

Of The Life of a Showgirl—which drops October 3—Swift said the project, which she recorded while still on her Eras tour, left her “physically exhausted” and “mentally stimulated.”

“It’s everything that was going on behind the curtain,” Swift said of the theme of The Life of a Showgirl. “My main goals were melodies that were so infectious that you’re almost angry at it, and lyrics that are just as vivid but crisp and focused and completely intentional.”
