HBO is seeing early signs of success with its latest drama series, Task.
The premiere episode drew 3.1M U.S. viewers in its first three days of availability across HBO and HBO Max, putting it among the top five HBO series debuts in the streamer’s history, according to Warner Bros. Discovery.
Per WBD, the Task premiere audience is up 26% versus creator Brad Ingelsby‘s previous HBO outing, Mare of Easttown, which bodes quite well for the new Mark Ruffalo-led series. Mare of Easttown went on to average 12.9M viewers per episode for the season.
While the company didn’t share global viewership, it did say that Task has been the top title globally on HBO Max since its arrival on the platform Sunday.
Set in the Philadelphia area, Task follows an FBI agent (Mark Ruffalo) as he heads a task force to put an end to a string of violent robberies led by an unsuspecting family man (Tom Pelphrey).
Cast also includes Emilia Jones, Jamie McShane, Sam Keeley, Thuso Mbedu, Fabien Frankel, Alison Oliver, Raúl Castillo, Silvia Dionicio and Phoebe Fox.
Ingelsby created the series and serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Jeremiah Zagar and Salli Richardson-Whitfield direct and executive produce. Additionally, Mark Roybal and Paul Lee executive produce for wiip, along with Ruffalo; David Crockett and Ron Schmidt. Nicole Jordan-Webber and Jeremy Yaches serve as co-executive producers for Public Record.
