Sydney Sweeney is trying some new hair on for size. Of course, the actress is no stranger to a major mane transformation. There was her unforgettable wavy jet-black bob with eye-grazing bangs at the 2024 Met Gala. Then, her ultra-teased, ’80s-esque mullet back in June. And who could forget her frizzy, dark brunette shag for her upcoming biopic Christy? Now, she has once again colored and texturized her tresses for her upcoming western drama, Americana.

The Euphoria star took to Instagram to show off her beauty switch-up. In a series of photos, she rocks medium-length, strawberry-blonde locks that are styled in bouncy, doll-like curls with full fluffy bangs. At one point, she kept her voluminous strands out of her face with a red bandana. Her ‘do offers quite the contrast to her signature long golden-blonde locks.
In all the snaps, the 27-year-old appears to be wearing minimal, rosy glam, complete with freckles and slightly-flushed cheeks. In the film, Sweeney plays Penny Jo Poplin, a shy waitress who teams up with a military veteran to gain possession of a rare Native American artifact from a ruthless criminal.

“A few years ago I filmed this little movie with some friends and now you get to meet penny jo ♥️,” captioned the slideshow.
Sweeney surely dresses the part in the film, sporting floral-adorned button-down shirts, lots of plaid, cowboy-inspired graphic tees, and plenty of denim.
Speaking of denim, Sweeney’s hair transformation debut comes amid her controversial American Eagle ad. The campaign has received backlash and accusations of promoting eugenics.

Days following the uproar, the clothing company released a statement defending their commercial, claiming it “is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story.” AE continued, writing, “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.” Meanwhile, Sweeney has not publicly addressed her participation in the ad.
