Octavio Pisano is not gone just yet from Law & Order: SVU: Deadline has learned that he will return for the season opener this fall.
In May, it was revealed that Pisano and Juliana Aidén Martinez would not be returning to NBC‘s SVU as series regulars in the 27th season. Martinez joined the cast last season as Detective Kate Silva, while Pisano was added in Season 23 as undercover detective Joe Velasco.
It was unclear whether the decision was made for creative or financial reasons — or both. There was a pattern of budget reductions across multiple NBC shows, impacting cast, episodes, and other areas ahead of NBC’s upfronts in May.
NBC has yet to reveal its fall premiere dates.
Earlier this month, Deadline broke the news that Martinez closed a deal to join CBS’ FBI for its upcoming eighth season. It hails from Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television.
No details about Martinez’s character have been provided. With FBI‘s Stuart Scola (John Boyd) still looking for a permanent partner after the departure last fall of Tiffany Wallace (Katherine Renee Kane), Martinez could play a new agent paired with him.
