Superman and Green Lantern Voice Actors Seemingly Confirm Injustice 3 Is On The Way

DC fans will recognize Phil LaMarr and George Newbern as the two voice actors behind iconic iterations of the characters Green Lantern and Superman, respectively. Beyond LaMarr and Newbern voicing both heroes in various animated shows and features, they also voiced their respective Justice League members in NetherRealm’s Injustice games. They’ve also both seemingly confirmed to fans they met at conventions that WB Games and NetherRealm are making Injustice 3.

In fairness to both actors, Injustice 3 being on the way isn’t exactly a well-kept secret. Beyond what we’ve seen from datamined leaks, we know that NetherRealm has been discussing a DC game with WB’s leaders on the DC franchise, James Gunn and Peter Safran. We also know the pattern of games NetherRealm has made under Warner Bros. swap back and forth between Mortal Kombat and Injustice games, and we know that NetherRealm has moved on from making new Mortal Kombat 1 content.

In the same way that Edward Kenway’s actor wasn’t really spilling the beans on an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake, despite Ubisoft’s overreaction, Phil LaMarr and George Newbern aren’t exactly leaking state secrets, assuming their comments to fans here are accurate.

Posts online from fans who met LaMarr and Newbern at recent conventions were spotted on Reddit, and in both cases, the fans alleged that LaMarr and Newbern separately confirmed Injustice 3 is in development.

“Yesterday, I finally met my favorite voice for Superman,” writes Brendan Borrow on X (formerly Twitter) accompanying a photo of him with Newbern at what looks like FanExpo in Toronto, which took place last weekend. “I was telling him he’s definitive as the voice for me and how much I loved the game MultiVersus. In response to my MultiVersus comment, he told me he’s currently working on Injustice 3!”

In LaMarr’s case, X user DannySoul0 claims that LaMarr said to him, “You know they’re making another one, they’re doing Injustice 3,” as he signed his copy of Injustice 2. DannySoul0 also immediately alerted content creators focused on DC content when he first took to X (formerly Twitter) with the news.

While it doesn’t seem like there’s any reason to believe either fan is exaggerating about their interactions with the two actors, the lack of a video like what we saw with Edward Kenway’s actor, means that it’s still worth taking these comments with a pinch of salt. Without a more official confirmation, whether through a leak or proper reveal, it’s always a best practice to keep your expectations in check.

That said, the idea of Injustice 3 finally happening as we begin to get close to a decade since Injustice 2 releasing is an exciting prospect, and since NetherRealm has been firmly in the world of Mortal Kombat for its last few releases, it would be great to see these legendary heroes of page and screen beat the living crap out of each other again. Hopefully, we’ll have a more official word from WB soon.
