GOOSE CREEK — Years after Kathryn Dennis left the Bravo reality show “Southern Charm,” she was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a three-vehicle collision.
Now, she will spend a short stint behind bars, a judge ruled Oct. 3.
Dennis, 34, was sentenced to 30 days in the Berkeley County jail on a first-offense driving under the influence charge and one count of transporting open alcohol in a vehicle, according to a clerk at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
Her estimated day of release from incarceration is Oct. 14, the clerk said.
Dennis had been arrested more than a year prior, smelling of alcohol and having several small bottles of Fireball cinnamon whiskey in her vehicle, police said.
On May 20, 2024, around 9 p.m., officers found the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Stephanie Drive completely blocked off to traffic by firefighters due to three vehicles involved in a collision, according to an incident report.
Dennis was holding a dog and being checked out by emergency medical personnel. Bystanders on the scene of the collision told officers she smelled like alcohol.
An officer looked into Dennis’ 2018 GMC Canyon pickup truck and found an unopened miniature bottle of whiskey on the driver’s side floorboard. In addition, authorities found several more bottles in a dog bag, some of which were opened and empty, the report states.
Dennis submitted to a field sobriety test on the scene and exhibited multiple signs of intoxication, according the incident report. She refused to provide a breath sample.

She was booked into the Berkeley County jail and later released on a $1,457 total bail on both charges, the report states.
Prior to the 30-day sentence imposed Oct. 3, Dennis had been named as a defendant in a civil lawsuit seeking damages for injuries sustained in the collision. Larry Griffin filed the suit on Aug. 14, stating that he had suffered serious bodily injury and mental anguish as a result of Dennis’ gross negligence.
