Movie lovers have become used to certain studios being very tricky with their trailers and often lying to audiences in order to not give away spoilers while making it seem like they are giving away spoilers – we’re looking at you, Kevin Feige. However, it looks like there is a new crew on the block that have been massively deceiving their fans, after it was revealed that the trailer for Season 27 of South Park was nothing but a lie.
Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker knew that Season 27 was going to be a huge television event, and when it was originally announced that the show would be debuting its new season in the summer, a trailer was released unveiling big stories, returning characters, and plenty of pop-culture parodies. What no one knew, and are only just finding out, is that none of it was real.

‘South Park’ Quietly “Banning” Some of Its “Best” Episodes Ahead of U.S. Paramount+ Streaming Debut
According to reports, U.S. fans will have to still rely on their old DVDs to see some classic ‘South Park’ episodes.
The South Park creators appeared at SDCC, and made the shocking confession that the scenes in the trailer are not actually part of anything coming to screens in Season 27. The reason for this? Well, they simply don’t know week to week what is actually coming because most of it is not written yet. Parker said:
“We were at South Park this morning trying to figure out what next week’s show is going to be. Right now we don’t know,” Parker stated. “Even last weekend, three days ago, we were sitting there going ‘I don’t know if people are going to like this.’”
This means that everything fans believed they were going to be seeing in the coming weeks is not what they will see. While this will be annoying for some who were looking forward to the return of long-lost characters and more, the idea of not actually knowing what to expect is just as exciting as having all these breadcrumbs laid out like a tapas bar. As the opening episode proved, sometimes going in completely blind can deliver in a huge way.
‘South Park’ Is a Dominant Force on Paramount+ Right Now
Following the arrival of the new season, and all the controversy it brought with it, South Park leaped to the top of Paramount+’s movie and TV charts overnight. While this could be seen as purely based on the show’s attacks on Donald Trump, which hit the headlines after the Season 27 premiere, Paramount feel like the long-running comedy series is one of their biggest assets. In fact, they literally put their money where their mouth is by handing Parker and Stone a new five-year deal worth $1.5 billion.
South Park will now remain at Paramount+, and a new season of 10 episodes will air each year until 2030. Considering this deal was struck before the previous deal was ready to come to an end, it is clear that South Park may be almost 30 years old, but it is still just as relevant, popular, and controversial as it ever was. With the world constantly on the verge of a nervous breakdown, there are certainly plenty of hot topics to choose from.
